           Shahdol is a part of  east  Madhya Pradesh. Shahdol District occupies an area of approximately 5671 square kilometres.  
       Shahdol District is one among 50 Districts of Madhya Pradesh State ,India. Shahdol District Administrative head quarter is Shahdol. It is is Located 472 KM west towards State capital Bhopal . Shahdol District population is 1064989. It is 36 th Largest District in the State by population.

Virateshwar temple :
   Virateshwar temple of Lord Shiv and Ban Gunga in Sohagpur Near district head quarter Shahdol.

Bansagar Dam

Bansagar or Ban Sagar Dam is a versatile River Valley Plan on Son River anchored in Ganga Basin in Madhya Pradesh, India envisaging equally irrigation and hydroelectric power generation. The Bansagar Dam beyond Sone River has been complete at town Deolond in Shahdol District on Rewa – Shahdol road, at a distance of 51.4 km from Rewa. The project has been called as “Bansagar” afterwards Bana Bhatt, the acclaimed Sanskrit academic of 7th century, who is believed to accept, hailed from this arena in India .

Amarkantak :
       Amarkantak  lies in the newly shaped district of Anuppur, in Madhya Pradesh. It is located on the Maikal mountain range which links the Vindhyachal and Satpura mountain ranges, at about 1067 meters above signify sea level. The public of the city as per 2001 demography is about 7000. Many fabulous belief apropos to Lord Shiva and his daughter Narmada accept been alloyed about this mystical city of Amarkantak.

Ancient temples

    The ancient temples of Kalchuri period are in the south of  Narmadakund , just behind it. These      were built by Kalachuri Maharaja Karnadeva .This is Mahadev Temple . A  huge fair held in festival      of  mahashivratri  every year .
Mai ki Bagiya (Goddess Garden) is also known as Mother's Garden. This garden is situated around 5 km from Narmadakund and covers the surrounding forests. The garden has been built in honour of the Goddess Narmada. It is a natural garden which features banana, mango, Gulbakawali, roses and fruits and flower plants.

     The Gulbakawali plant is known to release a lingering sweet smell. This garden also features various shrines of Hindu Gods and Goddesses, a rain-fed kund and a large number of trees. Tourists can also find a wide variety of medicinal herbs and plants on the banks of holy kund.

Achanakmar Wildlife Sanctuary 
    Achanakmar  is a wildlife park in Chhattisgarh Some part of  Amarkantak(MP),India. The sanctuary houses a number of endangered animal species, including leopardsBengal tigers ,and  wild bison.
    In Achanakmar restaurant, coffeehouse and many other facilities are available. The sanctuary is close to Amarkantak and the source of the  Narmada River
